This pattern was inspired by the Spring Vine Infinity Scarf by Kristen@GoodKnitKisses.
You can find a great video tutorial for the techniques used in making this cowl here:

Loom Along: How to Loom Knit a Lacy Infinity Scarf

Materials:

• Large Gauge Knitting Loom with 62 Pegs.
• 187 yards/100 grams of bulky #5 yarn.
• Knitting Tool
• Crochet Hook
• Stitch Markers (2)

Sample was knit on the long blue Knifty Knitter loom using Red Heart Boutique
changes yarn in color Granite.

Gauge:

Not Important

Skills Needed:

Knit stitch, purl stitch, yarn over

Drop Stitch Pattern:

Row 1: *knit 1, yarn over 3 on the same peg; rep from * to the end.
Row 2: *purl 1 and drop all the yarn overs on the peg; rep from * to the end
of row
Row 3, 5, 7, 9: Knit
Row 4, 6, 8: Purl

Directions:

Chain cast on 62 pegs using the chart below to determine Peg 1 position. Place stitch
marker on peg 1.

Cowl Section - You will be knitting in the round for this portion.
Row 1: Knit
Row 2: Purl
Row 3 – 10: Repeat rows 1 and 2 four times
Complete 4 repeats of the Drop Stitch Pattern ending on a row 9
Bind off pegs 1 – 11. Remove stitch marker from peg 1.
(I used Jeannie Phillips Loose Cast off stitch – see video tutorial here)

Hood Section - You will be knitting a flat panel for the remainder of the project.
Place stitch marker on pegs 16 and 58 (this should be 5 pegs from each end)

*Pegs 12 – 16: (pegs up to 1st marker)
Row 1, 3, 5: Knit pegs 12 - 16
Row 2, 4: Purl pegs 16 – 13, Skip peg 12

Pegs 17 – 56: (pegs between the two markers)
Row 1: *knit peg 17, yarn over 3 on the same peg; rep from * to peg 57.

Pegs 58 – 62: (2nd marker to the end)
Row 1, 3, 5: Knit pegs 58 – 62
Row 2, 4, 6: Skip peg 62, Purl Pegs 61 - 58

Pegs 17 – 56: (pegs between the two markers)
Row 2: *purl peg 56 and drop all the yarn overs on the peg; rep from * to peg 17

Pegs 12 – 16: (pegs up to 1st marker)
Row 6: Purl pegs 16 – 13, skip peg 12

You will now have created a garter stitch border for your hoods drop stitches

Pegs 12 – 62:
Row 7, 9, 11, 13: Knit all pegs
Row 8, 10, 12,14: skip peg 62, Purl pegs 61 - 13, skip peg 12*

Repeat * to * for hood section 3 (4 if you would like your hood longer than the one
pictured here) times ending with row 14.

To prepare for bind off, you will move all the loops on one side of the loom to the other
side of the loom:

Move loop from peg 62 on top of loop on peg 12
Move loop from peg 61 on top of loop on peg 13, etc until pegs 12 – 36 all have 2
loops. Now move the loop from peg 37 onto peg 36 (making 3 loops on peg 36)

You are now ready to bind off from peg 12 to peg 36 using the Loose Cast Off.
You will treat all loops on the pegs as one. This will bind off and seam your hood all in
one step.

Weave in yarn ends. Stretch the seam at the top of the hood to to relax it. Turn inside
out and wear :)

Happy Looming!
